MARK PELLI

Mark Pelli, you may know him as one of the co-founding members of a little known band named MAGIC! But enough about that. This article won't dive into the glitz and glamour of being in a famous band. Rather the focus will be on the multi-talented band member that has certainly been standing out lately due to his solo projects. Mark Pelli does make it very clear, this isn't anything new, he's been grabbing the mic since the mere age of nineteen.

He's always dabbled in music, whether it being part of a famous band or working with artists, such as, Shakira, Chris Brown and Trey Songz (just to name a few). Mark has made it a point, regardless of his busy schedule to continuously work on his craft. He enjoys working on his own music, and as of late, he has decided to give new audiences and fans alike a treat, to release two songs per month this year starting at the end of May.

After the well received release of his songs, "You Changed Me" and "Lifetime" he has decided to move forward with this endeavor.

Mark Pelli does confess that his obsession is music, he eats, sleeps and breathes it. As he puts it,

"Music is everything to me."

Listening to him talk about music as he goes into a stream of consciousness was absolutely lovely. Not all artists in this day and age, seem as devoted to the craft as much as he is. It certainly comes as no surprise due to the fact that Mark is a talented songwriter, singer, producer, guitarist and also happens to play a mean piano.

Mark often completely immerses himself into his art. One would assume quarantine has provided him with the opportunity to devote more time to his craft, but not much has changed for him. Prior to quarantine, his routine consisted of waking up and working on music all day long.

Mark finds himself fortunate to be able to work on music. Producing songs as well as co-writing them for others has provided a great source of income. It enables him to have the freedom to work on his own music, but this doesn't come without pitfalls.

Mark is often faced with restless nights, contemplating certain elements of songs he's working on, whether the beats are on point or rearranging a song in his head to see if it needs more work. He's the first to admit that sometimes he ponders too much about the mechanics of a song , as he says,

                                                              "Too in my head."

Who can blame him? Coming up with a catchy hook, can mean the difference between a number one hit or otherwise a successful song in and of itself. And here is where the dilemma arises, he has experienced both ends of the spectrum. Mark has had success on a commercial level with the song, "Rude" which entailed one of the most catchiest hooks of all time. Mark has also gained success due to his impressive repertoire, including songs with lesser commercial success. So which type of success does Mark prefer? He says both. Mark's sincerity is refreshing. He expresses his desire to always rise up to the challenge and come up with an enticing tune without having to negate his artistic integrity. However, Mark does try to be mindful and not go down the rabbit hole, so as to not get caught up as to which direction a song should go. Mark's primary goal is to keep his songs authentic and hopes that he creates something that people will ultimately appreciate.

MAGIC!

People tend to gravitate to things that make them feel good. Especially during these stressful times, it is imperative to keep spirits uplifted. Luckily for us, music provides the very comfort and distraction people crave for when things start to feel cumbersome. Mark Pelli says it best,
