Savannah Craven seems like your average young adult trying to navigate through these odd times in the United States. She attends college, has a part time job, but don’t let that fool you, she is far from average.
Savannah has recently gained massive attention due to her new, Rap song, “Be Like Candace”. The song is a tribute to none other than, Candace Owens. For a new artist like Savannah, she was not quite prepared for the attention she would garner. Nevertheless, Savannah has expressed how ecstatic she is at the positive attention she has received. Savannah says,
“I’m Incredibly grateful.”
Her newfound fame has even caught the attention of a specific person. This is when Savannah knew that the verse in her song, rings true,
“Hard work pays off.”
Savannah shares how shocked and thrilled she was when Candace Owens slide into her DMs to congratulate the budding star on all her recent success.
For Savannah, having music as an outlet has made her feel validated. Although, not too long ago, she mentions how she felt otherwise. Savannah attends a Liberal Arts school and found it difficult to create friendships due to her personal beliefs. In an age where women are finally being heard, she felt that she wasn’t heard at all. That’s when she decided to take action. As she puts it,
“[I don’t want to] live a life, bottled up.”
In this day and age, where people unfollow each other on social media over a difference of opinion, she wasn’t surprised when it started happening to her in real life. She shares how she wasn’t bothered by the loss of fair-weather friends at all. She states,
“A friend shouldn’t unfriend [you].”
Not all is loss, Savannah mentions how she has formed new and more fulfilling friendships because of her new passion. She’s received countless messages through social media from young people that admire her for her outspokenness and wish how they too could have the courage to speak their mind. Her advice to them has been,
“Get out there, start a group! Start a community in your town!”
Savannah mentions how she's benefited from seeking out likeminded individuals. She wants to encourage people to be proactive and know that they too have a voice. Savannah is well aware of her new responsibility as a role model and she doesn’t shy away from that realization. Her plans are to reach people young and old and show them there’s a better way. Savannah wants to take full advantage of her platform and show individuals how to set out goals and work hard. She especially wants to show young girls how she navigates her way through the music industry without rapping about drugs or sex. She wants to show young girls another side of the Rap world, a more positive side. Savannah states that being provocative should not have to be the go-to for female performers. She shares,
“Rap is a big part of our culture.”
That is primarily why she finds it so important to showcase a different side of the Rap game. She stresses how not all rappers put on a facade or promote negative lyrics simply for financial gain. Savannah brings up rappers like Topher, Bryson Gray and Forgiato Blow, just to name a few, that also share her message. She states,
“We are the future.”
Savannah is eager to show another side of Rap. Especially because of the current state of the Rap genre. For far too long, Rap has focused primarily on negativity. She expresses her frustration at the music industry for not highlighting other voices. Savannah also shares her disappointment in current celebrities like Cardi B and Megan thee Stallion, who in her opinion, have dropped the ball when it comes to our youth. Teenagers have impressionable minds and Savannah expresses how she hopes that one day Cardi B will see the light and finally,
“Take responsibility.”
Savannah is acutely aware of how words affect people. She states how she would NEVER take it upon herself to further add negatively to an over saturated genre. Savannah confidently declares,
“I care about the words in my songs.”
Savannah Craven is certainly one to watch out for. She is poised, put together and a breath of fresh air.
She wants people to know that there is indeed hope for Generation Z, Savannah is a prime example of that. She wants to encompass in her message that hard work pays off and taking the easy route is not always the best decision. She especially hopes to be a decent representation of woman’s empowerment. She enthusiastically shares,
“I wanna be that person!”
Well, I’ve got news for you, Ms. Savannah Craven, you already are.
